This 6-session course is designed for those who have completed our 6-week Beginners’ Course - or a beginners’ course elsewhere - within the last 6 weeks and would like to continue developing their practice with guided tuition.
Over the 6 sessions, there is no fixed lesson plan. Expect a relaxed, supportive atmosphere with plenty of time for experimentation. You are free to use all studio equipment, including the pottery wheels, slab roller and moulds. There are 5 pottery wheels available, plus ample hand-building space.
With continued practice and support, you’ll build confidence, refine your skills and progress in your pottery journey.
You can continue beyond 6 sessions via this route by purchasing another 6 sessions (no limit).
This is not suitable for complete beginners.
If you’re new to ceramics, consider our Wednesday or Thursday evening 6-week Introduction to Pottery course.
How It Works
Join me on Mondays for guided studio sessions. You may arrive at any time between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. Sessions are 2 hours long*. The studio closes at 8:00pm.
You'll receive 12 hours of studio time to use over an 8-week period. Studio time is normally booked in 2-hour sessions, but you're welcome to combine or split your hours to suit your projects - for example, book a 4-hour session, or arrange two 3-hour visits.
When booking, please indicate your preferred start time and any dates you are not available in 'notes'. I encourage you to keep to the same time each week for consistency, although changes can be accommodated.
Dates
This course runs on a rolling basis. You may begin on any Monday (subject to availability).
You will receive 6 studio sessions, which must be used within 8 weeks of your chosen start date. Sessions cannot be carried forward beyond this period.
Closure times/dates:
The studio will not be open until 5pm on 13th July, and closed on 31st August. Closure days are not included within the 8-week period.
Payment
Payment can be made in 2 or 3 instalments.
Please email hello@rmostudio.com for details.(Any active promotional discounts do not apply to instalment plans)
Additional Information
It is assumed you will attend 6 sessions week on week, unless you indicate otherwise at the time of booking.
Ceramics can be surprisingly physical. A reasonable level of hand dexterity and grip strength is required. If you have any concerns, please get in touch before booking.
Ages 16+. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
The studio is on a light industrial site, and therefore some noise is to be expected from neighbouring units during weekday hours before 5pm.
The studio can be cold in cooler weather. Heaters are provided, but please dress warmly.
Studio glazes and oxides are included (not underglazes). Work will be glazed and fired after your final session and will be ready to collect approximately 2 weeks later. Please wait for a confirmation email before collecting.
Finished items will be kept for 14 days after notification, after which they will be disposed of due to limited storage space.
Once your course is booked, you will receive an email in the week prior to the start date with further information.
