Attendance & Storage
-
You may attend as many Studio Access sessions as you wish.
-
Work will be disposed of if you do not attend the studio for 28 calendar days but be mindful that even plastic-wrapped work can dry within 10-14 days in this studio.
-
This applies at any stage of the process, due to limited studio storage space in a busy working studio.
Health, Safety & Suitability
-
Studio Access is 18+ only.
-
Ceramics can be physically demanding and requires reasonable hand dexterity and grip strength.
If you have any concerns, please get in touch before booking. -
Your first session includes a health & safety induction, which forms part of your booked session time.
-
Studio Access assumes a basic level of ceramics knowledge and experience.
If staff feel that further guidance is needed for safe or effective studio use, they may recommend additional lessons or support, or pause or cease Studio Access until this is in place.
Studio Environment
-
The studio can be cold in winter.
Heaters are available, but please dress appropriately. -
The studio is on a light industrial site, which means there is often noise from other working units on site Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00.
-
If there is any damage to tools or equipment during studio access, you will be liable for costs of replacements.
-
Under no circumstances should you move or handle other peoples’ work, especially unfired work.
-
Clay is provided for personal practice and development by hobbyist and improver potters. There is no fixed weight limit per session; however, use is subject to a reasonable fair-use policy in the context of shared studio access.
-
Studio Access is not intended for production pottery or large-scale making. Where clay use is considered excessive or beyond normal personal practice, the studio reserves the right to limit usage or require additional clay to be purchased.
-
Additional 12.5kg bags of stoneware clay are available to purchase from the studio at supplier’s cost.
If you wish to bring your own clay, please let staff know first. -
Studio glazes are included in the cost.
If you wish to use your own glazes, please let staff know first. -
Clay should not be taken offsite. It is for use in the studio only.
If you want to take clay offsite, additional bags of stoneware clay (12.5kg) can be purchased from the studio at supplier cost.
